Jane Ray leaves Jeremy Clarkson for Alan Whicker
Friends and colleagues could not fail to notice that Jane left her full time job running BBC Worldwide’s Compliance Unit in the same week that the controversial Top Gear presenter also left the BBC. However, she is insistent that her reason for leaving after 28 years was not because all compliance work had dried up as a result; she stood down in order to take up an exciting new role as consultant director for the Whicker’s World Foundation. “It’s a dream job for me” Jane says. “This adventure takes me back to my first love, documentaries, and it will make a real, positive difference to those who deserve to have their work supported”. Meanwhile, she is still with BBC Worldwide two days a week as an Editorial Guardian.
