Mirror, Mirror on the Wall Filmmaker Q&A

We are so very proud to announce that the winner of our 2018 Film & TV Funding Award, Mirror, Mirror on the Wall will be premiering online at this year’s Visions du Réel Film Festival! Directed by Sascha Schöberl, Mirror, Mirror on the Wall is a portrait of Dr Han, whose life has become a permanent quest for perfection. From the livestreamed operating theatre to art fairs via fashion shows, the famous Chinese plastic surgeon has only one aim: beauty. Through the implacable portrait of this character, the film questions beauty as a simultaneously essential yet vain element of society in the era of selfies.

To celebrate the premiere, we donned our pink feathered, red carpet togs and recorded a post-screening Q&A in our virtual screening room! Director Sascha Schöberl, Producer Ningxin Xie and Executive Producers Antje Boehmert and Ruby Chen discuss the making of their masterpiece, hosted by Artistic Director of The Whickers, Jane Ray.
