Whicker Documentary Course at the BFI
We are thrilled to announced a new Whicker course in documentary film that will take place as part of the BFI’s programme throughout April and May. Led by The Whickers’ Artistic Director and award-winning documentary-maker Jane Ray, this practical evening course is for those wanting to learn the basics of documentary making.
The programme takes students from early development, funding and research to simple filming techniques on camera or smart phone. It will cover the importance of audio, story development, effective interviewing skills and editing. These are ‘hands-on’ classes that expect every student to leave with a short 5 minute documentary film of their own and the confidence to pursue further projects. Drawing on the expertise of ‘special guest’ practitioners and the greats of the past, such as documentary broadcaster Alan Whicker, this course is suitable for curious beginners without prior experience.
Course fee £175 (refreshments provided).
Every Wednesday from 18 April – 23 May 2018
